The ionic foot bath is another way to detox the body.  The ionic foot bath is an external detoxification method which removes toxins from the body through the feet.  Each treatment takes about 45-60 minutes.  The benefits are numerous (over 76).  The immediate benefits include an increase in energy and overall well-being, a healthier disposition, a better state of mind, weight loss, increased metabolism.  Also, one could get relief from candida (a yeast overgrowth), stress related conditions, skin problems (eczema, psoriasis), muscle injuries,  joint problems, blood circulation, acid reflux, back pain, gout conditions, headaches, etc.  The list of benefits goes on and on.   The individual who detoxes in this way will be able to see the results in 45-60 minutes as the water will change color.  An explanation of the color changes will be given to the person during the session.  There are numerous advantages to doing a cleanse this way.

Benefits of a Lymph Drain

The benefits of having a lymph drain are numerous.

The proper functioning of the lymphatic system is critical to our body’s ability to detoxify and regenerate tissues.  The lymph system filters out toxins and foreign substances and maintains a healthy immune system.  It is a complex system composed primarily of lymph vessels and nodes.  When the lymph circulation stagnates, fluids, proteins, cells and toxins accumulate and cellular functioning is significantly compromised.  This opens the way to many physical ailments.

There is a wonderful technique that is designed to activate and cleanse the human fluid system.  It is called the lymph drainage (pronounced-drahnahge) technique.  This technique works with the flat of my hands, using all my fingers in a mild pumping movement making wave-like movements to activate fluid circulation and stimulate the lymphatic flow.

Lymph drainage therapy has many benefits:

  • Reduces edemas (swelling)
  • Detoxes the body
  • Regenerates tissue, including burns, scar (pre- and post- surgical), wrinkles and stretch marks)

It’s Cleansing Time

Fall is here!  This is a wonderful time of the year to be thinking about cleansing.  The season is changing to the cooler weather, temperatures are fluctuating and our eating patterns are changing.  In the spring and summer we like cooler foods and drinks while fall and winter we like the warmer foods and drinks.  Our bodies are in transition which is why this is a good time for a fast or cleanse.

Many people make it a habit to do a fast or cleanse four times per year–fall, winter, spring and summer.  The fast or cleanse can be 1-2 days, 3 days, 7 days, etc., whatever works for them in their schedule.  Some people give up certain foods during this time while others focus on just liquids.  It is usually an individual’s choice. A cleanse will give the digestive system a little vacation. This is a wonderful time for the body.

After the fast or cleanse is over, most people feel better.  This is a great time to have a colonic.  A colonic will help remove the toxins and old fecal matter.  Colonics will help finish the cleansing or fasting program.

Let’s Get Healthy – Step 4

A 5th step to being healthy is to be aware of our elimination schedules. Our body is not designed to eliminate every 2-3 days, or once a week or twice a month.  We are suppose to “go” within an hour or two after every meal.  This means when we eat breakfast we should go within 1 to 2 hours after this meal.  After lunch, we should be “going” 1 to 2 hours after this meal. After dinner, we should be “going” 1 to 2 hours after this meal.  When we eat dinner at 6:00 pm, we should be “going” by 9:00 am the next morning.  This elimination schedule is important.  Each time we “go”, the stool should be formed–about 12 inches long and about 1 to 1 and 1/2 inches in diameter.  We would call these “healthy poops”.

If we are eating 3 meals a day but only going to the bathroom once a day, this is when we start to get that build up on the walls of the colon.  This is when we can become quite constipated.  After a time, we feel gassy and bloated.  We will start to have some digestive disorders.

Our colon is a very important organ.  We would do ourselves a favor to keep it as healthy as possible.  The healthy way is to eliminate properly every day and be on a healthy schedule.

Suffering From Gas and Bloat?

The symptoms of gas and bloat usually occur after eating.  One can eat a small meal or a large meal and get that gassy/bloated feeling.   It is usually very uncomfortable and can be embarrassing as well.  You may wonder how this problem comes about.

Often, we do not combine our foods correctly.  That is, we put a starchy food and a protein food together at a meal.  Let’s say you are having breakfast and you decide to have eggs (protein) and toast (starch or carbohydrate).  Putting this combination together causes gas.  Maybe a dinner choice would be rice (starch) and beans (protein) which also causes gas.  These are just two examples of putting protein and starches together at the same meal.  Of course there are many other combinations that can cause the gas and bloat feeling as well.   Learning what combinations work best for your digestion system can be a real education.  We need to practice food combining with our meals to eliminate that gas and bloat feeling.

Another cause of gas would be drinking liquids with our meals.  The gas comes because all the liquid we just drank with our meals is preventing the stomach acid and the digestive enzymes to break down the food properly.  The large amounts of gas that occurs from drinking the liquid with our meal will cause bloating in our abdomen.  Our abdomen is usually swollen at this point making us look like we have over-sized abdomens.

Sometimes, certain vegetables and fruits will give us gas.  The individual needs to determine which vegetables or fruit might be causing the problem.  A food diary is a good way to keep a record of what we have eaten and how our body has reacted to the foods.  Becoming aware of the foods we eat that are causing the gas and bloat is the first step in understanding our digestive problem.

What about a massage?

What is massage?

Massage dates back to about 2000 BC.  There are many references to massage which appear in ancient writings from China, Japan, India, Egypt, Greece.  The term “massage therapy” includes many techniques and the type of massage given usually depends on the person’s needs and physical condition. The many techniques that I use in my sessions vary from person to person.  I could use just one technique for the whole session or I could use more than one in the same session.  It depends on what is going on in the client’s body when they come in.  (See my web page on massage and the different techniques I use.)

Massage therapists work on muscle, soft tissue, tendons, ligaments, joints, and pressure points. They also might work on the nervous system, the lymphatic system, the fascial system and other body systems depending on the need of the individual at the time.  In all forms of massage, the therapist works with their hands, forearms and their elbows to manipulate the body’s soft tissue.  Massage strokes can vary from light to firm and deep depending on what the client needs.

Why would a person want to have a massage?

Most people are stressed these days.  Stress can cause serious consequences in people’s lives. Taking care of one’s self is very important. One of the ways to de-stress and relax is by having a full body, relaxation massage.  The massage will calm the person and put harmony and balance back into the body. (see my blog on Stress 101)

Massage is wonderful for people who need better range of motion and flexibility in their muscles.  By using certain techniques in the massage session range of motion can be restored.

People will benefit from a massage if they have upper or lower back pain, arthritis, tendonitis, headaches and migraines, muscle spasms, strains, circulatory and respiratory problems, post-injury and post surgical rehabilitation.  The list goes on and on for ailments people might be experiencing in their bodies.

Massage has many healing benefits. It will increase circulation by bringing oxygen and nutrients to the body.  It will soothe anxiety and depression. Massage enhances the immune system and gets down to the cellular level in the body.

As you can see, massage is wonderful and has many wonderful benefits, as well.  If you want to feel healthy, be healthy, and look healthy, then try massage.  You will be glad you had the experience!!!  I guarantee it!!
